_ xf iT~ f <br />L U, <br />.i }Y U > f A V S. <br />June 14, 2004, 31 <br />Council on Aging Meeting at the Reading Seniorc~ner`~ <br />49 Pleasant Street - Reading, Ma 01867 <br />Present: Dick Anderson, Betty Cronin, Dottye Foxon, Ruth Goldberg, Sally Hoyt <br />Edwina Kasper, Kristin Loring Kinsella, Carol Patterson, Barbara Powers, Carole <br />Scrima. Pat, van driver and Richard Cardillo, Administrator. <br />Betty Cronin called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. <br />• The minutes of the May meeting were approved - motion by Ruth, 2nd by <br />Carole <br />• Richard presented the Administrator's Report - accepted <br />• Financial Report - accepted <br />• Richard introduced Lynn White, Executive Director of the Reading <br />Housing. Authority - Lynn discussed ways the COA and the RHA can <br />work together to help Reading seniors - more older seniors are applying <br />for housing thus they are in need of more services - Lynn works with <br />Community Parish Nursing to help with these needs - she is working on <br />getting a van which would mean Pat would not have to transport seniors at <br />Tannerville <br />• Discussed the Family Housing planned for next door to the Senior Center <br />and the effect it might have on the Center's parking lot. Lynn assured us it <br />would not take any spots away and she might even be able to give us one <br />or two more - Richard asked Lynn to keep us informed and Sally <br />suggested we appoint a liaison from the COA Board when the public <br />meetings start <br />• Our second guest, Helen Lanagan, did not show up <br />• Betty asked board members to attend the Senior Center Open House on <br />Tuesday, June 22 at 10:00am if possible - free food from Cafe 607 - this <br />is a good opportunity for seniors to meet and chat with the board <br />• Richard gave Peter Sebring, the railing installer, 24 hour notice. If he does <br />not show up, Richard will call someone else. <br />• Two or three high school students will help seniors, on the computer, to <br />determine if they should get the new Prescription Cards. <br />• 128 Ford donating van to be retro-fitted - $9000.00 was allocated <br />• Money was donated for a DVD and it has been installed <br />New Business: <br />The light outside the Center is broken - won't be repaired until after July 1 <br />Stair treads will be refinished - going to study the safety issue <br />Covers for the Center's bathrooms are under consideration. <br />Meeting adjourned at 8:00 - Motion made by Ruth, 2nd by Edwina <br />Respectfully submitted: <br />Barbara A.
