Wakefield COR 7812453325 ; '4!^ j p, 2 <br />CLERK <br />" MASS. <br />2005 j UNI € 7 A ! - 31 <br />September 13, 2004 <br />Council on Aging Meeting at the Reading Senior Center <br />49 Pleasant Street - Reading, Ma 01867 <br />Present: Betty Cronin, Dottye Faxon, Ruth Goldberg, Sally Hoyt Edwina Kasper, <br />Kristin Loring Kinsella, Carol Patterson, Barbara Powers, Carole Scrima. and Richard <br />Cardillo, Administrator. Absent - Dick Anderson <br />Betty Cronin called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. <br />+ The minutes &*June meeting were approved - motion by Dottye, 2nd <br />by Carol <br />• Richard presented the Administrator's Report - accepted <br />• Financial report accepted. <br />Richard presented the applications from the Reading Council on Aging to the <br />Executive Office of Transportation & Construction, Mobility Assistance Program, <br />for monies to help purchase a 16-passenger van with a wheelchair lift that will <br />transport people both in and out of Reading for medical appointments. The cost <br />of the van will be approximately $63,000 with the COA paying 20%, about <br />$12,750.00. Richard indicated, whereas the van with the lift would be able to <br />transport frail elders, the Schroeder Fund may be eligible for a portion of the 20% <br />requirement. A commitment is required tonight in order to meet the grant <br />deadline, as the fund will need to be fully authorized under the Burbank Fund <br />with a possible reimbursement from the Shroeder Fund at a later date. Motion <br />made to approve $12,750 to be taken from the Burbank Trust Fund to be used as <br />the COA's portion of the purchase of a 16 passenger van under the State Office of <br />Transportation Mobility Assistance Program. Approved unanimously. <br />• All parts of the application were presented to the Board, explained by <br />Richard and signed. <br />• A. Assurance of Compliance with Title V! of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. <br />+ B. Affirmative Action/Equal Employment Opportunity <br />• C.-1 Resolution of Support and Verification <br />• C -2. Certificate <br />• D. Fiscal & Managerial Capability Certification <br />+ 'E. Assurance of Nondiscrimination on the Basis of a Disability <br />• Applications approved - motion by Sally, 2nd by Dottye - <br />Approved unanimously. <br />• Betty asked board to approve expenditure of money from the Schroeder <br />Fund, for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for frail, isolated, <br />homebound elders who are alone for the holidays. Complete turkey <br />Dinners, which cost about $9.00 per person, come from Boston Market, <br />and are delivered by volunteers. Usually thirty people receive the meals, <br />Betty asked for $500 for each occasion, up to $1000, <br />• Motion approved by Dottye, 2nd by Sally, All approved. <br />
