ASS. <br />November 8, 2004 lCtiJ (`3 A 1: <br />Council on Aging Meeting at the Reading Senior Center <br />49 Pleasant Street, Reading, Ma 01867 <br />Present: Richard Anderson, Betty Cronin, Dottye Foxon, Sally Hoyt, Edwina. <br />Kasper, Kristin Kinsella, Carol Patterson, Barbara Powers, Carole Scrima and <br />Richard Cardillo, Administrator <br />Absent: Ruth Goldberg <br />Betty Cronin called the meeting to order at 6:25. <br />• Minutes of the October meeting accepted. motion by Sally, 2nd by. Carole <br />+ Richard presented his October Administrator's Report, <br />Discussed ways to increase daily meal attendance such as scheduling <br />activities right before or after lunch time - bring someone new to lunch <br />and get a free meal were a couple of suggestions. Sally suggested having <br />more special meals, possibly at the high school, when it is completed, and <br />asking local business people for donations. <br />• Sally feels that a member of the COA board should become a part of the <br />new Health Facility Committee recently formed. Dottye agreed to be an <br />Associate Member until we get a new Human Services Director, who can <br />then take over. Money from the Hospital Trust will be used for this <br />facility. <br />• Financial Report reviewed and accepted. Money from the Burbank and <br />Schroeder Funds will pay for the Thanksgiving meals which we purchase <br />from Boston Market and deliver to homebound seniors. The Staff makes <br />up the routes, maps, etc. to make it easier for the volunteers. <br />+ Richard said we need more low-income families for our Holiday gifts. <br />• Discussed Christmas decorations and agreed to have the decorated tree as <br />usual. <br />• Talked about mailing Pleasantries four times a year, but Betty pointed out <br />that the Voke does the printing and they are off in the summer. It was <br />agreed to do the mailing in February, June and October. For the mass <br />mailings we leave some at Wingate, Daniels, Longwood Place, Post <br />Office, Atlantic, Library and the Senior Center. <br />• Richard and Betty visited other Senior Centers to see what they did about <br />cigarette receptacles most did not have any - we removed ours and no <br />one seems to miss it. <br />• Window cleaning will be done soon - pool table room all ready. <br />Meeting adjourned at 7:25 - Motion by .Dick, 2" d by Edwina. <br />Next meeting Monday, December 13 at 6:30 pm., <br />
