Council on Aging Board Meeting RECEIVED <br />Monday, October 16, 2006 <br />Reading Senior Center-Game Room EA NG, MASS. <br />i t'OV 30 A 8: 52 <br />Present were: Carole Scrima,Edwina Kasper,Sally Hoyt;Ruth Goldberg,Betty Cronin,Marguente <br />Bosnian, Dawn Folopolous (staff) and Margaret Havey,Charlie McDonald (associate member), <br />Stacey Beriocchi, Carol Patterson. Absent: Barbara Powers. <br />Carol Patterson, Chairperson, called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. <br />Sally reiterated her announcement from last month. "They were unable to. repeal the private pay <br />tax to patients in nursing homes." <br />September minutes accepted. Motion by Carole, 2°d by Stacey. <br />Administrator's Report: accepted Motion by Ruth, 2nd by Margaret. <br />The Jazz Program had rave reviews. There was discussion about applying for a grant from the <br />Cultural Council which would allow an entertainer like Denise Doucette, who has been on the <br />Rosie O'Donnell Show, to perform next year. <br />Dawn clarified the definition of "duplicated" and "unduplicated" regarding the financial report. <br />Unduplicated=refers to number of participants. Each person is only counted once <br />Duplicated=refers to the number of services an individual received or participated in. <br />For example, if 3 men play billiards and then eat lunch at the center. The unduplicated count is 3 <br />and the duplicated count is 6. <br />Dawn made a more reader friendly chart to answer questions about interest, expenses, and <br />balances on the financial report. <br />As requested by the Council on Aging, Dawn provided a memo to explain the current schedule <br />of expenditures for the Burbank Trust Fund. <br />Financial Report: accepted Motion by Carole, 2nd by Stacey. <br />Old Business <br />Discussion of the Medical Taxi Program. Dawn wrote a proposal to the Hospital Trust fund <br />requesting 1) the program be advertised in the Pleasantries and 2) that the program provide in- <br />town medical rides. The current Town services are unable to keep up with the demand for in <br />town rides. Charlie mentioned requesting volunteers to help provide medical rides. For example, <br />the Knights of Columbus or the Masons. <br />
