Z./ <br />RECEIVED <br />1 <br />Council on Aging Board Meeting TOWN CLERK <br />Monday, April 9, 2007 READING, MASS. <br />Reading Senior Center-Game Room 2001 MAY 14 P 112: 2,9 <br />Present: Betty Cronin, Carol Patterson, Carol Scrima, Stacey Bertocchi,e Sally Hoyt, Barbara <br />Powers, Margaret Havey, Ruth Goldberg, Dawn Folopoulos (staff, and Charlie McDonald <br />(associate member). <br />Absent: Edwina Kasper, Marguerite Bosnian. <br />6:30 Meeting called to order <br />March 12, 2007 minutes were approved. <br />Administrator's Report approved and accepted. <br />Financial Report approved and accepted. <br />Motion by Betty to expend $25.00 for Jelly Beans from the Burbank Trust Fund, 2nd by <br />Margaret. Passed unanimously <br />Old Business <br />e Annual Friends and Family Day is June 30, 2007 from 12-4pm. COA members volunteered to <br />man the division's table. Question on the time of the event because it is different than last year. <br />Dawn will check but she had a memo that said 124pm. Discussion of giveaways: gift bags <br />containing pencils, File of Life, current Pleasantries Newsletter and Marie Ammer's (social <br />worker) business card. Further discussion of items to have at the table (i.e.a sign or hard candy). <br />Ideas on what the sign might say to attract not just Seniors to the COA table (i.e. "Help Someone <br />YOU Love?") There will be no raffle basket at the COA table this year. <br />Dawn reminded those who have not yet returned their volunteer applications to complete them. <br />Update: Room darkening shades have been installed. <br />New Business <br />At Town Meeting beginning April 23, warrant article 8 is about the possibility of moving the <br />funding for the Property Tax Work program for FY08 from the Elder/Human Service budget to <br />the. Overlay Account. The request in article 8 is for the full amount of $15,750. <br />COA toured the new van. <br />New name for the division and the senior center: We have a goal of mid-may to decided upon a <br />new name for the "Elder/Human Services" Division. When a name is selected it will be printed <br />on the van. Some popular names among COA members are 1. Intergenerational Services, 2. <br />Lifecare Services, 3. Life Concern Services. The Senior Center, by unanimous vote of the COA <br />will probably be renamed "The Pleasant Street Center." <br />
