RECEIVED <br />Too-,N CLERK <br />Council on Aging Board Meeting r' 4 <br />Monday, March 10, 2008 3~ 3 <br />Reading Senior Center-Game Room SO DEC 2b <br />Present: Carol Patterson, Marguerite Bosnian, Stacey Bertocchi, Barbara Powers, Margaret <br />Havey, Sally Hoyt, Edwina Kasper, Steve Oston, Charlie McDonald (associate member),Dawn <br />Folopoulos (staff) <br />Excused absence:Carole Scrima, Ruth Goldberg, Barbara Powers. <br />6:30 Meeting called to order. <br />Minutes approved and accepted for February 11, 2008. <br />Administrator's Report approved and accepted. <br />Dawn and the Social Worker are examining the impact new housing developments may have on <br />Elder/Human Services Department in Reading. When people move into an affordable housing <br />unit, they often need to re-establish social service benefits they were receiving in their previous <br />home town. This can create a higher demand for social services from Reading staff. <br />Dawn described working with the police and post office to provide resources for a local <br />homeless woman who had become a danger to local residents. <br />Financial Report approved and accepted. <br />We reviewed the expenditures and commitments for the Burbank Trust Funds for FY08. <br />The Administrator presented 3 memorandums to the COA requesting the expenditure of Burbank <br />Trust Funds. <br />1. Dated March 3, 2008- Requesting funding in the amount of $1,505.00 for 2 picnic tables <br />for the outdoor patio. They are recycled plastic hexagonal picnic tables. One cost $620.00 <br />and the second table is $580.00 for a handicap accessible version. Carol made a <br />motion that total expenses of $1,505.00 be deducted from the Burbank Trust for two <br />picnic tables and Steve 2nd. All voted in favor of the expenditure. <br />2. Dated March 10, 2008- Requesting funding in the amount of $50.00 to rent an antique <br />popcorn maker for the June 19d' "Cruisin" afternoon event. Carol made a motion to <br />grant the funding from the Burbank Trust of $50.00 to rent an antique popcorn maker and <br />Sally 2" d. <br />3. Dated March 10, 2008- Requesting funding in the amount of $94.65 for 30 bingo cards <br />for the Senior Center. Margaret made a motion that the total expense of $94.65 for bingo <br />cards be deducted from the Burbank Trust and Steve 2nd <br />
