kECEIVED <br />Council on Aging Board Meeting TOWN CLERK <br />Monday, June 9, 2008 R rj I ' <br />Reading Senior Center-Game Room 1000 DEC 2b P 3: 31 <br />Present: Carol Patterson, Stacey Bertocchi, Sally Hoyt, Margaret Havey, Ruth Goldberg, <br />Edwina Kasper, Steve Oston, Marguerite Bosnian, Dawn Folopoulos (staff) <br />Excused Absence: Carole Scrima, Charlie McDonald (associate member), Barbara Powers <br />6:3 5 Meeting called to order. <br />We said farewell and thank you to our friends who were stepping down from the board Ruth, <br />Edwina, and Charlie. <br />Minutes approved and accepted for April 14, 2008 and May 12, 2008. <br />Administrator's Report approved and accepted. <br />*Comments regarding how attendance has increased for the number of lunch participants <br />due to the theme lunches such as Mother's Day Lunch, North Reading Senior Chorus, <br />and Are You Smarter than a 5th grader? Sharon's efforts at lunch themes and <br />entertainment have had a great impact on attendance. <br />*The World War H Songs presentation was very enjoyable and will be aired on RCTV. <br />Financial Report approved and accepted. <br />Old Business <br />Annual Friends and Family Day - COA members volunteered to man the table <br />Sally and Edwina 11-4pm <br />Stacey and Marguerite 1-4pm <br />Edwina will supply a cooler and buy ice. <br />Discount Booklets <br />Steve passed around a list of businesses. Dawn recommended the subcommittee should <br />meet once before summer break. The subcommittee members are Barbara, Ruth, <br />Marguerite, and Steve. It was agreed to start small with local businesses within one mile <br />from the center of downtown. <br />New Business <br />The picnic tables have arrived. <br />The affordable housing project that was to be built on the property next to the senior center has <br />been cancelled. The project was deemed economically unfeasible. The land is now for <br />sale. <br />
