dJ <br />Global Warming Task Force - Meeting minutes for Nov 9, 2005 <br />In attendance: Ron, Tracy, Stephanie and Gina.. <br />Power Point Presentation to Town Meeting (11-14-05) <br />Headings for the Power Point Slides <br />What was the purpose of the Ad Hoc Committee on Energy and Environment? <br />What is the Cities for Climate Protection (CCP) organization? <br />What is the CCP program? <br />The CCP structure uses a 5-milestone program: <br />• Conduct a Baseline of Emissions Inventory for municipal, <br />business, and residential operations. <br />• Set an Emissions Reduction Target. <br />• Develop an Action Plan outlining steps the town plans to reach <br />its Emissions Reduction Target. <br />• Implement the initiatives in the Action Plan. <br />• Monitor Emissions reductions and fine-tune Action Plan <br />What are the potential benefits for Reading? <br />What other communities in CCP have we spoken to? <br />What have they accomplished? <br />What do they recommend? <br />What does the Ad Hoc Committee recommend to the Town of Reading? <br />What is the next step in this process? <br />On November 22, 2005, the board of Selectmen will begin the process of <br />establishing a permanent committee to bring Reading into the CCP <br />organization and oversee the CCP program. <br />What is a possible timeline for the CCP program? <br />What can you do? <br />• Join the committee to be formed.
