f~
NA, C Q'
Global Warming Task Force - Meeting minutes for Nov 2, 2005 - D
In attendance: Ron, Tracy, Stephanie and Mary Ellen.
Items 1 & 2:
We need to reduce the selectmen presentation for Town Meeting down to 5
minutes.
Our goal at Town Meeting is simply to gain notoriety. Our presentation
should include slides for:
- our inception and the roots of our committee
- the reason for our committee
our past activities
- Define CCP
0 our findings from town surveys
- that the selectmen agreed to make our committee permanent
- to look for our website and newspaper ads
- Nov 22nd
- contact information for interested people
- supply a hand out
Some of our first activities upon becoming a permanent committee should
be to get an intern, join CCP, MCAN
Item 3:
Mary Ellen:
- her advisory committee is just getting off the ground
- most of the members are financially focused
- group has been around for 15 years
- focus has been more on business fairness
- there is a mandate that 1/4 of 1% of gross revenue be used on
energy conservation
- not sure this is currently happening
- could use this fact as a starting point in a friendly not
threatening way.
- any changes affecting citizens must be approved for each town
- plan for our committee to present at the January meeting as an intro
- find out who RMLD employees are and meet with them but meet
with CAB (citizen advisory board) beforehand
- RMLD currently offers energy audits, $ back on appliance purchase,PR
for kids but no energy conservation group
4. Eco Circles
- provides discussion group forum
- $15/book
- seminars in Deep Ecology, Voluntary Simplicity, etc.
- developed in Salem MA
- rotating leadership
- started with husband and wife in Wisconsin
5. Mission discussion
We had a discussion about the mission statement for our group. We want
to make sure that if the town manager writes a mission statement, that
it doesn°t limit our activities. Best to keep it simple like "join and
implement the CCP program".
