October 18, 2006 Reading Advisory Committee on Cities for Climate Protection Program
Committee Notes for Oct. 18, 2006 (Next Meeting -October 25 at RMLD to review data)
Present were Ron Daddario, Michele Benson, Stephanie Anderberg, Gina Snyder, and Joan Boegel
The minutes for Oct. 11 were accepted unanimously.
The LED lights are more expensive than when we checked earlier. Stephanie will order the 1 %z inch
lights as they are less per case, in the white as Peter requested.
The Change a Light Campaign has a pledge web site. Ron will ask Peter to have the link put on our Town
website, we'll ask Tracy to put it on our website and Michele will ask RMLD to put on their website. We'll refer
to the link once we've checked it, in our next Green Sense article. The actual URL for the link on Energy Star is
too complicated to ask people to type in, so we'll try to go with the simpler RMLD site.
Michele will do a slide for the campaign to go on RCTV - she hasn't had much luck with them so far, but
will try again.
Ron will ask about a counter display at the Atlantic.
RMLD has a Halloween part for kids and parents on Oct. 26 h from 2-5 PM (this unfortunately overlaps
the Energy Star portfolio training). Ron offered to be set up to help people give pledges.
Ideas:
• Does Jordan's have WI-FI so we could set up there?;
• Stephanie suggested that we might engage the YMCA- a "Health Body Healthy Planet" campaign
for example;
• Joan suggested John Doherty of the schools might include something in the science curriculum;
• The pledge campaign could also be included in church bulletins (Ron will check with St. Agnes);
• Ron will check to see if the Thanksgiving Reading 14S Football game is a home game. We could
have a display at the game or at the pancake breakfast - or both.
• Ron will ask if we can have a sign for the pledge at the election and a table at Town Meeting;
• Joan will check if WI-FI works in the vicinity of Town Hall for the Holiday Tree Lighting.
Our next meeting is a special meeting on results - next meeting Oct. 25th can be at RMLD for going over
the results.
U
is
~~e~ X65 S ~
/Z
