August 13, 2008 Reading Advisory Committee on Cities for Climate Protection Program
Committee Notes for August 13, 2008. 7PM (Next Meeting - Aug 27th at RMLD)
Committee Mtg present were Michele Benson, Tracy Sopchak, Ron D'Addario, Bing Xia & Stephanie Anderberg.
Meeting opening - Chair Michele Benson opened the meeting.
Minutes - A motion was made and the previous two meetings' minutes were approved.
Action Plan items updates - Additional paperwork had been required to "obligate" the proposed funding
into the FY09 budget. Tracy helped Carol to write this, and it has now been turned in.
Michele talked with DJ (School dept) regarding who might be available to interview for the RCTV program.
Michele met with Pat S last week to go over the anti idling materials and sign design. Pat ordered enough signs
for all public schools, plus the library and Town Hall. He will have them placed in buckets with cement so they
can be moved around. Pat may also be able to help us with copies of the handouts. Pat will meet with the
principals to explain the no-idling campaign and get their buy-in. He thinks there may be a place in each school to
post completed pledges and keep a stack of extra copies for families who misplace the originals.
Michele made up an FAQ for MassRIDES info to go to employees, along with a description of the program.
Michele and Eliot are working on the Emergency Ride Home. At this point, we're only waiting on the URL or
code that will allow town employees to match rides with only other town employees.
Review other Action Plan items - Some action items might be moving into the "maintenance" category
over the next several months. We'll need to plan on updating the Action Plan and also prepare an annual update
report in February or March.
Other Business - A resident of Wilmington called Michele regarding starting a CCP program
there. Folks from Andover also want to meet with us.
Ron suggests a fall social at his house.
