Town of Reading
Board of Cemetery Trustees
Wednesday, May 4, 1994
Pursuant to a meeting legally posted, the meeting of May 4, 1994
convened at 7:30 P.M. in the Berger Conference Room, Reading Town
Hall.
Present: John Silvaggi, Chairman
Joyce K. Miller, Vice-Chairman
Daniel F. Driscoll, Secretary
Carl H. Amon, Jr.
Edward F. Fuller
James J. Sullivan
Director Robert Keating of the Cemetery Division was also
present.
1. Secretary's Report
On a motion by Mr. Fuller, seconded by Mr. Amon, it was unani-
mously voted to accept the secretary's minutes of the April 5,
1994 Trustees meeting.
2. Revised Budget Financing Plan
Director Keating reported that the revenues from the Sale of Lots
was $8,954 less than the amount allocated for the FY95 Budget.
In order to meet the Cemetery Budget of $212,036 it was requested
that the Bequest Fund portion for the Budget be increased $8,954.
On a motion by Mrs. Miller, seconded by Mr. Amon, it was unani-
mously voted to transfer an additional $8,954 from the Bequest
Fund for the FY95 Budget.
3. Memorial Dav Preparations
Director Keating advised that there were 52 funerals in the first
four months. The drought during the summer caused severe damage
to the graves which were opened and seeded in the last three
years. He has rented a renovation machine to cultivate and seed
the areas that were dried out. Lawn matting is being used on
these graves to germinate the seeding. Mowing and raking is
progressing in all three Cemeteries.
Mr. Keating reported that the Custodian of Veteran Graves, Frank
Driscoll is prepared to handle the veteran markers. Last year he
did an excellent job.
4. Receipts
Director Keating furnished the Trustees with copies of the
receipts from Sale of Lots and Miscellaneous charges for July
through April 29, 1994. In comparison with the first ten months
of the last FY year the Sale of Lots have increased from $26,000
to $27,900, and the fees increased from $75,000 to $92,000.
