Town of Reading <br />Board of Cemetery Trustees <br />Wednesday, September 14, 1994 <br />Pursuant to a meeting legally posted, the meeting of September <br />14, 1994 convened at 7:30 P.M. in the Berger Conference Room, <br />Reading Town Hall. <br />Present: Joyce Miller, Vice Chairman <br />Daniel F. Driscoll, Secretary <br />James J. Sullivan <br />Mary Vincent <br />Robert Keating, Supervisor of the Reading Cemeteries was also <br />present. <br />1. Secretary's Report <br />On a motion by Mr. Sullivan, seconded by Ms. Vincent, it was <br />unanimously voted to accept the Secretary's minutes of the July <br />12, 1994 Trustees meeting. <br />2. FY94 and FY95 Buydgets <br />Mr. Keating furnished the Trustees with copies of the FY94 and <br />FY95 Budgets which were discussed in detail. <br />3. Summer Projects and Equipment Purchases <br />Mr. Keating reported on the road paving at Laurel Hill and the <br />finished grading and seeding at Charles Lawn. New purchases in- <br />cluded a lawn mower and a furnace for the garage at Laurel Hill. <br />4. Franklin Street Cemetery Capitol Planning Handouts and First <br />Phase Specifications <br />Mr. Keating furnished the Trustees with a copy of his letter <br />being sent out soliciting bids for the first phase of development <br />of the Franklin Street Cemetery. This includes survey, prelimi- <br />nary design, permitting and final design. The cost of the <br />development as outlined in the Ten Year Capitol Improvement <br />Program would extend for six years (FY95 through FY00) at an es- <br />timated cost of $265,000. <br />Mr. Sullivan discussed the merits of funding the development with <br />a bond issue, not only would the cost be reduced if completeded <br />in one or two years but the Sale of Lots would be an immediate <br />source of revenue for the Cemetery Division. The Board requested <br />that Supervisor Keating resubmit a request for a $300,000 in the <br />Capitol Budget. <br />5. Rule book changes for Fall Town Warrant <br />The eight clarifications previously recommended by the Trustees <br />will be presented to the Town Meeting. They will then be in- <br />cluded in the next printing of the Regulations of Cemeteries <br />booklet. <br />
