Town of Reading
Board of Cemetery Trustees
Tuesday, June 1, 1999 j. 12
Pursuant to a meeting legally posted, the meeting of June 1, 1999 convened at 6:15 P.M. in the
Berger Room, Reading Town Hall Annex, Reading, MA 01867
Present: Daniel Driscoll, Chairman
John Silvaggi, Vice-Chairman
Mary Vincent, Secretary
William Brown
Roc O'Connell
Robert Keating, Superintendent of Cemeteries was also in attendance.
Review of Past Meeting Minutes
On a motion by William Brown, seconded by John Silvaggi, the minutes were accepted as
amended.
Memorial Day Review
Robert Keating reported that the Memorial Day ceremonies had a large turn out from citizens of
the Town. The speaker system worked very well. The Cemetery Department had purchased a
power converter which was used with the public address system. The Board commented on how
all the hard work of the Cemetery Department made the grounds of all four cemeteries very
beautiful.
Old Business
Cemetery receipts were reviewed.
New Business
The Trustees accepted with regret the end of John Silvaggi's term on the Trustees. He has been a
dedicated member of the Board for over eighteen years, serving in various capacities. He will be
missed. We were pleased to welcome new member Steve Meehan to the Board. The Trustees
elected William Brown as Secretary and Mary Vincent as Vice-Chairman. Daniel Driscoll will
continue as Chairman.
The center island wall at Wood End is being worked on this summer.
Replacing road ways at Laurel Hill is also being done. (this was in the Capital Improvement Plan
of the Town.)
