Town of Reading <br />Board of Cemetery Trustees <br />Tuesday, September 6, 2005 <br />Pursuant to a meeting legally posted, the meeting of September 6, 2005 convened at 6:05 P.M. <br />in the Berger Room, 16 Lowell Street, Reading Town Hall. <br />Present: Mary Vincent, Chairman <br />William Brown, Secretary <br />Janet Baronian <br />Douglas Bruce <br />Absent: Roc O'Connell, Vice Chairman <br />Ron Stortz <br />cn, <br />Also Present: Robert Keating, Superintendent <br />Review of Past Meeting Minutes <br />The Minutes of June 21, 2005 were reviewed and approved on a motion by Janet Baronian and <br />seconded by Bill Brown. <br />General Business <br />The Trustees welcomed new member, Douglas Bruce. Bob Keating explained the role of the <br />Board. Mary Vincent explained the need to be prudent with the perpetual care fund. <br />Bob Keating noted that the cemeteries are under the same water restrictions as citizens and that <br />they hand water as best they can. Shrubs have been trimmed. Bob noted that the number of <br />cremations has been increasing. This affects income from fees, he also explained that because <br />of low interest rates, the return on the 3 million in the perpetual care fund is less than it was 15 <br />years ago on one million dollars. He also stated that Reading is among the highest communities <br />in overall costs in fees etc. <br />Receipts <br />Receipts are in line. <br />Adjourn <br />The meeting adjourned at 6:45 P.M.
