Town of Reading <br />ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS <br />- Minutes of August 21, 2008 <br />N <br />C r'11___i <br />Members present: Paul Dustin, Chairman <br />Robert Redfern <br />John Jarema <br />John Miles > a -q M <br />vo <br />cn <br />w <br />Members Absent: Peter Tedesco co <br />Clark Petschek <br />A meeting of the Zoning Board of Appeals was held in the Selectmen's Meeting Room of the <br />Town Hall, 16 Lowell Street, Reading, Massachusetts, at 7:00 P.M. <br />Case # 08-18 <br />A Public Hearing on the petition of Metro PCS Massachusetts, LLC who seeks a Special Permit <br />under Section(s) 4.3.5 of the Zoning By-laws in order to install wireless communication <br />equipment on the roof top and at ground level on the property located at 4 Summit Drive in <br />Reading, MA. The Applicant is proposing to install two panel antennas on each of the three <br />existing ballast mount frames for a total of six antennas; as well as one GPS antenna. All <br />associated cabling will be housed in the existing cable trays which are painted to match the <br />existing fagade of the building. <br />Peter Cook is the Project Consultant for Metro PCS and made the presentation on behalf of the <br />Petitioner. Also representing Metro PCS was Sohail Usmam. Metro PCS is not changing <br />anything other than the cables and Metro PCS's cabinets will be the same as what is there now. <br />AT & T is no longer on site at this location and there actually will be less equipment than before. <br />Mr. Jarema said any equipment should be the same color as the building as previously done by <br />AT&T. <br />Mr. Cook said the frequency levels emitted by the equipment meet the FCC regulations and the <br />proposed equipment is the same as AT & T's equipment. Metro PCS's technicians will also <br />conduct periodic emission checks. <br />On a motion by John Jarema, seconded by John Miles, the Zoning Board of Appeals moved to <br />grant a Special Permit to Metro PCS Massachusetts in order to replace antennas on the roof top <br />and the ground level of 4 Summit Drive in Reading with similar wireless antennas as now exists, <br />totaling six antennas, two per each of the three existing ballast frames as well as one GPS <br />ZBA Meeting, August 21, 2008 <br />
