Recreation Committee Minutes ° <br />Wednesday, April 14, 1999 k.: <br />The Recreation Committee meeting carne to order at 7:30 PM in the Town Hall <br />Conference Room. Committee members in attendance included Sue Cavicchi, Chris <br />Campbell, Claire Bolger, Kate Kaminer, Jack Downing, and Lorraine Salter. Also in <br />attendance were Associate Member Marc Nelson, Associate Member Bernie Winne, <br />Youth Program Coordinator Daphne Smith and Recreation Administrator Joe Connelly. <br />Mr. Jack Webster from Reading Youth T-Ball was also present. <br />Ms. Cavicchi made a motion to approve the minutes of the Wednesday, March 3, 1999 <br />meeting, Ms. Kaminer seconded the motion, approved 5-0. <br />Commission member Dennis Lucyniak entered the meeting. <br />DISCUSSION WITH READING T-BALL REGARDING LEAGUE BOARD OF <br />DIRECTORS <br />Mr. Connelly reviewed his previous conversations with Mr. Webster. Mr. Connelly <br />explained that he recommended that Mr. Webster form a Reading T-Ball Board of <br />Directors to assist in settling any grievances against the league. Mr. Webster explained <br />his reasoning for not having a Board of Directors. Mr. Webster stated that he did appoint <br />an American League and National League President to help with the dispensing of <br />- information. The Commission discussed this concept with Mr. Webster. Mr. Lucyniak <br />explained how the Reading Youth Baseball Board of Directors operated. The Committee <br />continued to discuss how the creation of a Board of Directors would assist Mr. Webster. <br />Mr. Webster agreed that a Reading T-Ball League Board of Directors comprised of <br />himself and the two league presidents would make sense. Mr. Webster will address this <br />issue. Mr. Webster exited the meeting at 8 PM. <br />NON-READING RECREATION CAMP FIELD FEE <br />Mr. Connelly reviewed the need for such a policy. The Committee discussed the need <br />with Mr. Connelly. Mr. Winne and Mr. Connelly discussed the importance of consistency <br />with this policy. Mr. Winne recommended bringing camps that fall into this category in <br />front of the board to discuss where to allocate the revenues from those camps. Mr. <br />Connelly reviewed the policy explaining that it was consistent with our 15% clinic fee. <br />The Commission discussed the need for reference checks and CORI checks on clinic <br />directors. Mr. Winne suggested that with little effort on our part it could protect us in the <br />long run. The Commission continued to discuss this with Mr. Connelly. Mr. Connelly <br />will develop a form to check the references of clinic personnel. <br />
