Recreation Committee Minutes <br />Wednesday, May 12, 1999° <br />The Recreation Committee meeting came to order at 7:30 PM in the Town Hall <br />Conference Room. Committee members in attendance included Sue Cavicchi, Chris <br />Campbell, Claire Bolger, Alan Beaulieu, Dennis Lucyniak, Dave Bryant and Lorraine <br />Salter. Also in attendance were Associate Member Sudie Fay and Recreation <br />Administrator Joe Connelly. <br />Mr. Campbell made a motion to approve the minutes of the Wednesday, April 14, 1999 <br />meeting, Ms. Cavicchi seconded the motion, approved 6-0-1. <br />Committee member Kate Kaminer entered the meeting at 7:48 PM. <br />APPOINTMENT TO AQUATICS ADVISORY BOARD <br />Mr. Connelly reviewed the agreement between the Town of Reading and the YMCA <br />regarding the Aquatics Advisory Board. The Committee discussed the importance of this <br />position. Ms. Salter nominated Dave Bryant to be the Reading Recreation Committee <br />representative. The nomination was seconded by Ms. Kaminer. The Committee approved <br />Dave Bryant's appointment to the Reading Aquatics Advisory Board on a 7-0-1 vote. <br />NEW CLINIC DIRECTOR REFERENCE CHECK FORM <br />Mr. Connelly reviewed the new form that will allow Reading Recreation to check the <br />references of new clinic directors. The Committee reviewed this new form. <br />REQUEST FROM READING UNITED SOCCER FOR CAMP FEE EXEMPTION <br />Mr. Connelly reviewed the oral request from Reading United Soccer for a one year <br />exemption to the new "Non-Reading Recreation Camp/Clinic Field Fee Policy". Mr. <br />Connelly explained that R.U.S. had already signed the agreement with the company that <br />conducts their summer soccer camp. Mr. Connelly reminded the Committee that this new <br />policy was not implemented to hurt R.U.S.. Mr. Campbell made the following motion, <br />seconded by Mr. Beaulieu, approved 8-0. <br />Move that the Reading Recreation Committee grant the Reading United Soccer <br />organization a 1-year exemption from the new "Non-Reading Recreation <br />Camp/Clinic Field Fee Policy". <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br />Program Collaboration: Mr. Connelly reviewed his proposal to the North Reading Parks <br />Director regarding the youth roller hockey program. Mr. Connelly reviewed the benefits <br />of such a collaboration. The Committee discussed the proposal. The Committee agreed <br />
