Recreation Committee Minutes <br />Wednesday, July 14, 1999 <br />The Recreation Committee meeting came to order at 7:30 PM in the Conference Room of <br />Reading Town Hall. Committee members in attendance included, Claire Bolger, Alan <br />Beaulieu, Dennis Lucyniak, Sue Cavicchi, Lorraine Salter, Jack Downing and Dave <br />Bryant. Also in attendance were Associate Members Sudie Fay, Bernie Winne, Mark <br />Nelson and Recreation Administrator Joe Connelly. <br />Ms. Cavicchi made a motion to approve the minutes of the Wednesday, June 9, 1999 <br />meeting, Mr. Beaulieu seconded the motion, approved 7-0. <br />Mr. Connelly reviewed his memo to Reading United Soccer regarding an incident at the <br />Longwood Place soccer field. <br />Committee member Chris Campbell entered the meeting at 7:48 PM. <br />Town of Reading Youth Sport Disciplinary Policy <br />Mr. Connelly reviewed the draft policy with the Committee. Mr. Connelly first reviewed <br />the draft version of league responsibilities. The Committee discussed the league <br />responsibilities. Ms. Cavicchi suggested that the Recreation Committee conduct a formal <br />hearing for any grievance overturned by an organizations Board of Directors. Mr. Bryant <br />agreed that the Recreation Committee should have final say in the matter. The Committee <br />asked Mr. Connelly to draft the language and insert it appropriately into the draft policy. <br />Mr. Connelly reviewed the Recreation Committee responsibilities. Mr. Downing <br />suggested that the title of the policy be changed so not to exclude the Reading Men's <br />Softball Organization. The Committee suggested titling the policy, "Recreation <br />Committee Field Use Disciplinary Policy". The Committee asked Mr. Connelly to make <br />the necessary changes. <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br />Halloween Parade <br />Ms. Fay and Mr. Connelly reviewed this new event with the Committee. <br />Recreation Administrators Report <br />Mr. Connelly reviewed the report with the Committee. <br />Reading Aquatics Advisory Board <br />Mr. Bryant and the Committee discussed the make up of the aquatics advisory board. The <br />Committee asked Mr. Connelly to find out when the first meeting will take place. <br />Mr. Campbell motioned to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Mr. Beaulieu, <br />approved 8-0. <br />The Recreation Committee adjourned at 8:45 PM. <br />
