Recreation Committee Minutes Wednesday, August 11, 1999 The Recreation Committee meeting came to order at 7:30 PM in the Conference Room of Reading Town Hall. Committee members in attendance included, Alan Beaulieu, Lorraine Salter, Jack Downing, Kate Kaminer and Dave Bryant. Also in attendance were Associate Member Bernie Winne, Associate Member Mark Nelson and Recreation Administrator Joe Connelly. Ms. Kaminer made a motion to approve the minutes of the Wednesday, July 14, 1999 meeting. Mr. Downing amended the minutes. Mr. Beaulieu seconded the motion to approve the minutes as amended, approved 5-0. Mr. Connelly reviewed the "Letter to Editor" regarding the Grant Municipal Pool and YMCA Aquatics Facility. Town of Reading Youth Sport Disciplinary Polic~ Mr. Connelly reviewed the changes to the draft policy with the Committee. Committee Elections The Committee discussed the election process. The Committee discussed the positives of having a healthy change in the Chairperson position. The Committee discussed having the existing Chairperson serve as Vice Chairperson the following year to give the Committee consistency and stability. Ms. Kaminer nominated Jack Downing for the position of Chairperson, seconded by Mr. Beaulieu, approved 5-0. Ms. Kaminer nominated Dave Bryant for the position of Vice Chairperson, seconded by Mr. Downing, approved 5-0. Pop Warner Special Permit Request Mr. Connelly discussed the special permit request with the Committee. Mr. Connelly spoke to the uniqueness of the situation. The Committee discussed placing emphasis on no intercom use before 1 PM. Ms. Kaminer motioned to approve the request as proposed with the understanding that there shall be no intercom/public address system use prior to 1 PM. This motion was seconded by Dave Bryant, approved 5-0.
