Recreation Committee Minutes <br />Wednesday, January 12, 2000 <br />The Recreation Committee meeting came to order at 7:35 PM in the Conference Room of <br />Reading Town Hall. Committee members in attendance included, Alan Beaulieu, <br />Chairman Jack Downing, Kate Kaminer, Vice Chairman Dave Bryant, Lorraine Salter, <br />Chris Campbell, Dennis Lucyniak, and Claire Bolger. Also in attendance were Associate <br />Committee Members Mark Nelson, Sudie Fay, Bernie Winne and Recreation <br />Administrator Joe Connelly. <br />Ms. Kaminer made a motion to approve the minutes of the Wednesday, December 15, <br />1999 meeting. Mr. Beaulieu seconded the motion, minutes approved 8-0-0. <br />Assistant Town Manger Russell Dean entered the meeting at 7:45 PM. <br />Recreation Administrator Position <br />Mr. Connelly reviewed his resignation from the position of Recreation Administrator. <br />Mr. Connelly explained that he has accepted the position of Superintendent of Recreation <br />for the Town of Arlington. Mr. Dean reviewed the hiring and interviewing process with <br />the Committee. The Committee discussed this process with Mr. Dean. The Committee <br />discussed necessary criteria with Mr. Dean. Mr. Winne recommended that the position be <br />posted on the Internet. The Committee asked Alan Beaulieu to represent the Committee <br />in the interviewing process. Mr. Dean thanked the Committee and exited the meeting at <br />8:15 PM. <br />New Business <br />The Committee discussed the issue of in town youth league fund raising. The Committee <br />expressed concern with the Reading t-ball fundraiser. The Committee and Mr. Connelly <br />discussed ways to approach the issue. The Committee will discuss this issue at their <br />February meeting. <br />Mr. Bryant asked Mr. Connelly to forward each Committee member a copy of the final <br />disciplinary policy and the league contacts. <br />The Committee and Mr. Connelly discussed a request from David Chase to use Collins <br />Field at 11 AM on Sunday morning. This will be discussed at a meeting after the <br />February 28th request deadline. <br />Mr. Bryant motioned to adjourn, seconded by Mr. Campbell, approved 8-0-0. <br />The Recreation Committee adjourned at 9:15 PM. <br />
