Recreation Committee Minutes <br />Monday, March 27, 2000 <br />SPECIAL BUDGET MEETING <br />The Recreation Committee meeting came to order at 8:20 PM in the Berger Room of Reading <br />Town Hall.. Committee members in attendance included, Alan Beaulieu, Chairman Jack <br />Downing, Vice Chairman Dave Bryant, Chris Campbell, Dennis Lucyniak, and Claire Bolger. <br />Also in attendance were Associate Committee Members Mark Nelson, Bernie Winne, Town <br />Manager Peter Hechenbleikner and Recreation Administrator Wayne C. Currie. <br />Approval of February minutes was proponed until next meeting. <br />New Business <br />Town Manager Peter Hechenbleikner discussed the issue of the budget to the committee. He <br />discussed the Board of Selectmen request to allocate the money for the Youth Program position <br />to fund the Recreation Clerk position and a 3.5% increase in Program fees. <br />$6,612 would have to be covered by the Recreation Revolving Account in FY01 to maintain <br />Recreation related clerical services. <br />Currentlv: FY01 <br />Allocated for the Principal Clerk position. <br />Elimination of Youth Coordinator position. <br />Balance (To be funded) <br />Differential between Administrator Salary FY00 - FY01 <br />Balance <br />$13,935 <br />-$6,335 <br />$7,600 <br />-$988 <br />$6, 612 <br />Mr. Currie explained to maintain the same surplus in the Recreation budget, program fee must be <br />increased by 3.5% for the FY01 season. It is important that we maintain the targeted estimated <br />surplus budget of $51, 700. Some program will take a greater hit than other to still maintain <br />affordability will. The hit on Recreation could be smaller base on the amount of profit gained <br />through NEW programs in FY01. <br />There will be no increase in Camp fee for this summer. <br />Mr. Beaulieu motion to provide the $13,935 out of the Recreation Revolving Account to fund the <br />1/2 position of the Principal Clerk position for fiscal year 2001. <br />Mr. Lucyniak second the motion. <br />Motion passed 6 - 0 <br />Mr. Bryant motioned to adjourn, seconded by Mr. Campbell, approved 6-0-0. <br />The Recreation Committee adjourned at 8:45 PM. <br />
