Town of Reading <br />16 Lowell Street <br />Reading, MA 01867-2685 <br />FAX: (781) 942-9070 <br />RECREATION DIVISION: (781) 942-9075 <br />Recreation Committee <br />Minutes of August 9, 2000 meeting <br />Town Hall Conference Room <br />MEETING NOTES: <br />Meeting was called to order at 7:53 PM <br />A quorum was declared present. <br />ATTENDEES: Jack Downing, Dave Bryant, Mary Ellen Stolecki, Susie Fay, Alan Beaulieu, <br />Lorraine Salter, Associate Member <br />GUESTS: Dave Chase, Tom Brukilacchia, Steven D'Agati, Jim Goodwin; Reading's Over the Hill <br />Men's Soccer Team <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes, Wednesday, July 12, 2000 <br />Motioned to Approve: Jack Downing <br />Seconded - Susan Fay <br />Passed unanimously 5 - 0 <br />CALL TO ORDER:Public Meeting <br />Alan Beaulieu called to order a public meeting about the Reading Over the Hill Team special permit <br />to use Collins Field on Sunday from 11:00 -1:00 PM <br />Dave Chase, President of the Reading Team discussed reasons why the team should be granted <br />permission to use Collins Field. Mr. Chase stated that everything went well this past spring with no <br />complaints from the neighbors. It would be in the team's best interest to play their games in <br />Reading 17 of the 20 players are from Reading. They did seek other sites like Austin Preparatory <br />but that would cost too much. <br />No abutters were presents to dispute this fact. <br />Mr. Brunkilacchia stated that they are all Reading United Soccer Coaches and would do anything to <br />maintain a good relationship with the town and community. <br />Public Meeting was closed. <br />Discussion <br />Point of Opposition: <br />This was thought to be a request only for the spring 2000 season. <br />
