Y° <br />FAX: (781) 942-5441 <br />RECREATION DIVISION: (781) 942-9075 <br />RECREATION COMMITTEE MINUTES <br />8/14/02 MEETING <br />In Attendance - Bernie Winne, Mark Hyson, Sudie Fay, Mary Ellen Stolecki, Sue Cavicchi, Dave Bryant, <br />and Claire Bolger. <br />Bernie Winne started the meeting at 7:35 PM <br />Susan Cavicchi made a motion to accept the July 10, 2002 minutes. Dave Bryant seconded the motion. The <br />motion passed by a 6 - 0 vote. <br />Mary Ellen Stolecki updated the Recreation Committee on the status of the Sunday Special Permit Sub- <br />Committee. Mary Ellen stated that the sub-committee has only met once which was last spring and that there <br />was no new information at this time. <br />Mark Hyson gave an update to the Recreation Committee regarding Mike Bove's interest in becoming a <br />member of the Recreation Committee. Mark stated that he spoke with Peter Hechenbleikner regarding the <br />conflict of interest with Mike Bove being part owner of a company that the Recreation Division may be <br />doing business with in the fall. Peter Hechenbleikner told Mark Hyson that it would be a conflict of interest. <br />Mark Hyson stated that he then called Mike Bove and told him that it would be a conflict of interest and <br />Mike Bove stated that he would not pursue becoming a Recreation Committee member. <br />Mary Ellen Stolecki updated the Recreation Committee on the Skate Park Sub-Committee. Mary Ellen <br />Stolecki stated that in attendance at that meeting was Alan Beaulieu, Jack Downing, Kerry Bramhall and <br />Mary Ellen Stolecki. Mary Ellen went on to state that the sub-committee discussed the specifics from Jack <br />Downing's proposed agenda and divided the responsibilities. The intent of this agenda was to find alternate <br />sites and see what qualifications these sites would or would not have, before they bring them back to the <br />Recreation Committee for final approval. Mary Ellen also stated that the second meeting is scheduled for <br />late August. <br />Karen Janowski from the Reading Technology Fund Walk-a-thon came to the meeting to request a special <br />permit for the use of Memorial Park on Sunday, September 29, 2002 from 10:30 AM - 3:00 PM. The Walk- <br />a-thon will start at 12:00 Noon. Karen Janowski stated that the name of their organization is now the <br />Reading Technology Fund, Inc. Karen also stated that the last walk-a-thon they did has less then 50 <br />participants. Claire Bolger made a motion to grant the special permit for the Reading Technology Fund, Inc. <br />with the amendment that no music start before 12 Noon. Sue Cavicchi seconded the motion.
