" <br /> ~ Board of Selectmen Meeting of June 24' 1986 Page 1 <br /> .\ <br /> | <br /> | A meeting of the Board of Selectmen convened in the Selectmen's <br /> Conference Room of the Executive Office at 6 Lowell Street, Readingv Ma. <br /> at 7|30 P.M. Present were Chairman Landers, Board Members Russell and <br /> Graham and Acting Executive Secretary A. V. Fletcher. <br /> On a roll call vote, all in favor, it was moved, seconded and voted to <br /> approve the minutes of the Emergency Meeting of May 20 and the meeting of <br /> June 2 as written. <br /> The Board next met with Town Clerk, Larry Drew to discuss <br /> reappointment to the Board of Registrars. <br /> Ona roll call vote, all in favor, it was moved' seconded and voted <br /> that Mrs. Pearl Malphrus of 595 Haverhill Street, be reappointed for a <br /> three year term on the Board of Registrars as a Republican member' <br /> effective April 1, 1986 through March 31y 1989. <br /> On a roll call vote' all in favor' it was moved, seconded and voted, <br /> that Edward D. (Donald) Winkler of 26 Timberneck Drive be appointed as a <br /> Democratic member of the Board of Registrars for the term ending March 31, <br /> 1988. <br /> The Board reviewed the letter from Police Chief Marchand regarding ' <br /> safety measures to protect against suicides in lockup facilities. <br /> On a roll call vote; all in favor, it was moved, seconded and voted <br /> that the Board of Selectmen approve the Chief of Police's request to <br /> employ a male guard for those times when male prisoners are in cells, when <br /> running shorthanded, and that the position be a part-time position, <br /> non-union eligible, and a non-police person, at a rate to be negotiated <br /> with the Acting Executive Secretary and the Chief of Police, and that the <br /> Board of Selectmen be notified of what this pate is. <br /> \ <br /> Mr. Fletcher asked if the Board of Selectmen still wish to receive the <br /> weekly Police Log Report. <br />
