I� <br /> € Board of Selectmen Meeting <br /> November 3 , 1987 <br /> The Board of Selectmen convened in the Selectmen' s Meeting Room, <br /> 6 Lowell St. , Reading, MA AT 7: 30 P.M. Present were Chairman <br /> Russell, Secretary Graham, Selectmen Landers and Ziegler, and <br /> j Pete Hechenbleikner, Town Manager, and the following citizens; <br /> Dennis Cronin, Attorney representing Arthur F . Bent, Jr . and <br /> Gladys K. Bent of 6 Radcliff Street, Burlington, MA. , for Liquor <br /> license transfer. Mary Bowen, Claudia Ryan, Registry of Motor <br /> Vehicles; Charles and Bernice Herrick, Ardell M. Sprague, Donald <br /> Gale, George Sprague, Helen Nigro, Charles Simblaris , Mr. St. <br /> Germaine- Registry of Motor Vehicles, Ted Cohen-Town Counsel, Mr. <br /> Singer Attorney representing Mr. Gianetto- Elizabeth Klepeis- <br /> Treasurer, Richard Foley-Town Accountant. <br /> On motion by Ziegler seconded by Graham the Board approved the <br /> the minutes of October 20, 1987 3-0-1. <br /> Beth Klepeis and Richard Foley were present to discuss the finan- <br /> cial projections for the Town. The proposed Fire Station and the <br /> Town Hall renovations were discussed. <br /> At a public hearing on motion by Graham seconded by Landers the <br /> Board voted 4-0-0 the transfer of the liquor license "Spell-Four, <br /> Inc. " to "Uptown Liquors" , with the lease expiring December 31, <br /> 1988 . The new owners are Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Bent of Burlington. <br /> iOn motion by Ziegler seconded by Landers the Board approved on a <br /> 4-0-0 vote the transfer of the lease on the land from Spragues <br /> Taxi Service of Reading, to Spragues Taxi Service of Reading, MA, <br /> a Division of Courtesy Cab Company of Reading, MA. <br /> Mrs. Sprague was awarded a Community Service Award for her serv- <br /> ice to senior citizens and- the community. <br /> On motion by Graham seconded by Landers the Board approved on a <br /> 4-0-0 vote the transfer of two taxi licenses from Spragues Taxi <br /> Service of Reading, MA to Spragues Taxi Service of Reading, MA, <br /> a Division of Courtesy Cab Company of Reading, MA. <br /> On motion by Graham seconded by Landers the Board approved a <br /> third taxi license for Courtesy Cab on a 3-1 vote. The Board <br /> denied taxi space in the area of Case Drug Store, because of in- <br /> adequate parking conditions in the square. <br /> Claudia Ryan and Mr . St . Germaine from the Registry of Motor <br /> Vehicles, and Mr. Singer the Attorney representing Mr. Gianetto <br /> the lessor of the "Old" Gallahue Supermarket" were present to <br /> discuss the installation of a traffic signal at Salem <br /> St. /Baystate Road. Such an approval will permit the Registry to <br /> - go ahead and occupy their portion of the building without delay. <br /> On motion by Ziegler seconded by Landers the Board voted 3-1 to <br /> install a traffic signal at Salem St. /Baystate Road, in accord- <br /> ance with the attached motion. <br /> 1 <br />
