MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN MEETING <br /> January 27, 1990 <br /> The meeting convened at 9:05 a.m. on Saturday, January 27'1990"' in <br /> the Selectmens Meeting Room, 16 Lowell Street, Reading, MA. <br /> Present were Chairman Graham, Vice Chairman Ziegler, Selectmen <br /> Nigro and Russell, Town Manager Peter Hechenbleikner and the fol- <br /> lowing list of staff and employees: Ed Loschi, Conservation <br /> Commission; Bill Burditt, Finance Committee; Bruce Morang, Press; <br /> Beth Klepeis, Finance Director; Richard Foley, Town Accountant; <br /> Jack Rivers, resident. <br /> The Town Manager reviewed a list of put backs under an override <br /> scenario. The Board decided that the tax lien material in the <br /> amount of $3,810 should be put in the base budget. There was <br /> discussion as to what the value of a part-time Planner would be; <br /> it was agreed that the dollar item would stay the same but we <br /> would evaluate whether or not it would be on a consulting basis <br /> or staff basis. The position of Planner will be further defined <br /> for the Board, as will the Engineering function. The add back <br /> for the Van Driver will be consolidated between the substitute <br /> Van Driver and the regular Van Driver and the Meals on Wheels <br /> Coordinator. Monies will be also put in this category. For <br /> working purposes, the four police officers and two firefighters <br /> will be included but the Board asked for further information on <br /> what each police officer being restored would involve. In the <br /> Public Works budget, the Board directed the $9000 for tree plant- <br /> ing be taken out of the base budget. The street lighting will <br /> stay as an add back. Chairman Graham asked that the Budget Ad- <br /> visory Committee be set to meet on Monday. On motion by Ziegler, <br /> seconded by Russell the Board voted to support the budget as <br /> modified by vote of 4-0-0. <br /> On motion by Russell, seconded by Ziegler the Board voted to set <br /> the Assistant Director of Public Works - Engineering salary at <br /> $44, 000 per year which is above the quarter point of the salary <br /> range by vote of 4-0-0. <br /> On motion by Russell, seconded by Nigro the Board voted to ad- <br /> journ at 11:55 p.m. by vote of 4-0-0. <br /> Respectively submitted: <br /> 0 <br /> Secretary <br /> } <br /> t <br />
