E MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN MEETING January 23, 1990 The meeting was- called----together at 7:37 p.m. in-the Selectmen!s... Meeting Room, 16 Lowell Street, Reading, MA. Present were Chair- man Russell Graham, Vice Chairman Molly Ziegler, Selectmen Eugene Nigro, John Russell, Town Manager Peter Hechenbleikner, Town Ac- countant Richard Foley, Finance Director Elizabeth Klepeis, Public Works Director Anthony Fletcher, Assistant Director of Public Works - Operations Ted McIntire, Gerald MacDonald, Nathan White, Fred Van Magness, and Robert Griffin. The Town Manager reviewed the history of the budget process to date, and reviewed the overall methodology for determining the budget amounts and the sharing between the School Department and the general Municipal Departments. The Board reviewed in detail budgets on general expenses (Unemployment, Group Health/Life Insurance, Medicare, Workers Comp; State and County assessments; Water Division; Sewer Division; Accounting and Retirement; Finance; General Services. The Board will meet on January 25, to review remaining departments, and the Town Manager was requested to post a meeting for Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. in the eventuality that all business cannot be completed on the 25th. The Town Manager was asked to prepare a Department Summary Sheet for the Department of General Services, and to have Town Counsel prepare an analysis of hours worked. The Town Manager was also requested to determine from the Assessors whether or not they are in agree- ment with the budget recommended by the Town Manager.
