Board of Selectmen Meeting <br /> March 17, 1998 <br /> The meeting was convened at 7:35 p.m. in the Selectmen's Meeting Room, 16 Lowell Street, <br /> Reading, Massachusetts. Present were Chairman Camille Anthony, Vice Chairman Bruce <br /> MacDonald, Secretary Sally Hoyt, Selectmen Dan Ensminger and George Hines, Town Manager <br /> Peter Hechenbleikner and the following list of interested parties: Fred Van Magness, Richard <br /> Stosez, Sandra Michaud, Chris Zanru, Gina Snyder, Kim Honetschlager, Karen and Kevin <br /> Roche, Clayton Jones, Ted McIntire, Paul O'Donnell, Debbie Powers, Judy Kramer. <br /> Reports and Comments <br /> Selectmen's Liaison Reports and Comments — George Hines noted that the Board of Selectmen <br /> need to be more involved in school decisions. <br /> Sally Hoyt attended a Board of Health meeting, and noted that aerial spraying will be taking <br /> place soon. <br /> Camille Anthony noted that there is a Strearn Team Meeting on Wednesday night. A <br /> demonstration lawn is going to be created at the Episcopal Church. She also noted that Cliff <br /> Proctor passed away. He was a member of the Conservation Commission for 20 years. <br /> Public Comment—There was no public comment. <br /> Town Manager's Report <br /> ♦ The Board of Selectmen and the Reading Business Park Task Force met last week in <br /> joint session to hear a presentation on the two proposals and to recommend a course <br /> of action. Today is the date for any additional inforination from either of the <br /> proponents. That material will be copied and distributed to the RBP Task Force <br /> and the Board of Selectmen. I have received calls from several businesses and from <br /> residents relative to the Home Depot proposal. <br /> Joseph Belmonte and Alan Perkins began their Police Academy training last month <br /> and will be back on the force by the beginning of July. <br /> ® We are in the process of hiring two Firefighter's positions and when all testing is <br /> completed, I will announce the appointees. <br /> ® A meeting was held February 26 on the Title V Program to provide assistance to <br /> property owners in getting tied into municipal sewers where possible, or in assisting <br /> in the improvement of their systems. Fining is available on a betterment basis. <br /> Approximately 80 people attended, and 16 property owners seem very interested <br /> in the pfogram. <br /> Rabies clinics will be offered in March— See Chamiel 22 and the Reading Notes <br /> for further infonnation as to dates and times. <br /> The last day for voter registration for the March 24 Town Election was Wednesday, <br /> March 4 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Election is next Tuesday at the Hawkes <br /> Field House. <br />
