Town of Reading - Meeting Minutes <br />• Requirements for the Green Communities Program <br />• Five criteria <br />1. "As of right" for energy facilities in our zoning by-laws (site plan review) <br />2. Prove we can expedite permitting for renewable energy facilities. <br />3. Energy reduction plan (20%) for controllable facilities over the next 5 years <br />(since 2017) <br />4. Fuel efficient vehicles for Town use/purchases <br />S. Adopt the stretch code for building construction. <br />• Actions the RCAC can promote: Criterion 4 - Fuel Efficient Vehicles <br />• RMLD will be a partner in promoting electric vehicles. <br />• Criterion 5 - Adopting Energy Stretch Code is the more difficult to implement. <br />Need to be a resource to promote the adoption of the new Net -Zero. <br />• Brainstorming Topics for Potential Posts <br />• There are many civic groups promoting environmental and sustainability. <br />• It might be helpful to have a place where it can be defined and communicated. <br />• Potential to share exposure for programs and add context for information. <br />Create story arcs for environmental themes.(Road Diet) using common formats <br />• Sharing responsibility for posts can distribute work load. <br />• Route 28 Road Diet <br />How should we approach the Road Diet? <br />• Comparison to Rt. 114 where there is a space for turning. <br />• Bike -ability and walkability of the Road Diet is desirable (reduce carbon emissions) <br />• Celeste to post material on walkability along with the link to the Road Diet <br />Feedback form. <br />• Talk with neighbors about the impacts from road diet. <br />• "Summer" Social <br />• Wait for the fall before scheduling a gathering. <br />• Keep meeting running through July <br />• Reading Climate Advisory Committee Barrel at Train Station <br />• Memorial Day ribbon has been added to the barrel. <br />• The barrel at the train station has been replanted with native plants from Mary <br />Howard's yard. <br />Next meeting 6/24/2020 at 7:00 pm <br />Page 1 2 <br />
