-RECEIVED <br />Town of Reading TOWN CLERK <br />Meeting Minutes READING, MA. <br />?.k <br />2023 JAN -9 AM 11: 26 <br />Board —Committee -Commission —Council on Aging: <br />Date: 2022-08-02 Time: 6:51pm <br />Purpose: Council on Aging <br />Location: Zoom Meeting <br />Members Present:, John Parsons, Marilyn Shapleigh, Debbie Small, Nancy Ziemlak, Rosemarie DeBenedetto, Beverly <br />Cunio, Nancy Tawadros <br />Members Not Present: Jolyn Ek, Sally Hoyt, Joan Coco, Jackie Behenna, Barbara Carney, Karen Pinette, Karen <br />Fabric, Sandy Shafer, <br />Others Present: Amy O'Brien,EHS Administrator/ Karen Herrick, Select Board Liaison/ Jenna Fiorente, Community <br />Services Director/Bob Holmes, Reading News <br />Minutes Respectfully Submitted by: Nancy Ziemlak <br />• Meeting Called to Order at 6:51 <br />• Motion made to accept minutes from June 2022: all voting members voted in favor to accept minutes <br />with noted corrections. <br />Select Board Uaison Report/ ReCalc Update —Karen Herrick <br />• Recent Forum participant. Very informative. <br />• Update on RFP status. SB discussed it in executive session. Walgreens offered a 10 year lease for $1BKmo$36K <br />increase after 10 years) for 15,000 sq ft. ada compliant, located in Downtown Reading, available parking is about <br />30 public spaces, 6 dedicated spaces. Town is looking into alternative parking for all town staff. Initially, overall <br />SB favorable for short term use but need to do further research to assess other costs (i.e. build out costs, ADA <br />compliance, etc). <br />Election of Officers <br />• After motions made and vote taken the following members were elected for FY23 - <br />• COA Chair: Marilyn Shapleigh, Vice Chair: John Parsons, and Secretary: Nancy Ziemlak <br />FY23 Meeting Schedule <br />• After discussion, motion made and members voted in favor of meeting on the first Monday of the month. FY 23 <br />Meeting Dates: Sept 5 will be moved to Sept 6 due to the Holiday, 10/3, 11/7, 12/5, 1/2, 2/6, 3/6,4/3, 5/1, 6/5, <br />8/7 <br />Welcome New Members <br />• Rosemarie DeBenedetto (Associate), Karen Janowski (Associate), Nancy Tawadros (Associate), Beverly <br />Cunio (Associate). <br />• It was suggested that new members review the town's Council on Aging website for further information. <br />https://www.madingma.gov/558/Councilon-Aging. <br />Elder Services Report <br />• New Senior Center Coordinator has been hired and starting August 15", full time M -Th 8:00-4:30, Fri 8:00-12:00 <br />• Jenna is coordinating ARPA Funding activities. Some of these programs currently include trips in OCr/NOV <br />which will be discounted 25%-50% using the ARPA funding. Also, planning to collaborate with the Library for a 6 <br />
