orxGo <br />Town of Reading RECEIVED <br />Meeting Minutes TOWN CLERK <br />READING, MA. <br />xac ���oa.•�'` <br />2022 JAN -5 PM 5: 20 <br />Board -Committee -Commission -Council: <br />Town Forest Committee <br />Date: 2021-05-11 Time: 7 PM <br />Building: Location: <br />Address: <br />Purpose: Town Forest Management Session: <br />Attendees: Members - Present: <br />Thomas Gardiner, Nancy Docktor, Kurt Habel, Jeff Lamson, Brian Scouten, <br />Rick Wetzler, Bill Sullivan <br />Members - Not Present: <br />Dan Ford <br />Others Present: <br />Jane Kinsella, DPW; Martha Moore, ConCom; Susan Bowe; and Ruff Life Pet <br />Service <br />Minutes Respectfully Submitted By: Bill Sullivan <br />Topics of Discussion: <br />Meeting was held by video conference due to the COVID pandemic. <br />Pine Tree Die -Off <br />o A site visit will be arranged with Mayer Tree to discuss the logistics of <br />removing dead red pines from selected areas. <br />o Need to develop a rough cost of the tree removal for the DCR grant <br />application. Seek funding for the balance at the November TM. <br />A resident was bit by a dog that was part of a group of 8 to 10 unleashed dogs <br />being walked by two commercial dog walkers. <br />o Discussed if there should be a limit on the number of dogs per handler. Is <br />voice control possible with a large number of dogs? <br />o Town Council said a by-law change would be required to limit the number. <br />Consequently, the motion made at the 4/13/21 meeting to limit the number <br />of dogs per handler to three was tabled. <br />o Discussed designating areas for walking dogs off -lease. <br />o Discussed requiring commercial dog walkers to have DCR dog walking <br />registration that requires insurance and a limit on the number of dogs. <br />o Need better signage and public notice of the dog etiquette. <br />901h Anniversary set for 9/25/2021. Need to start inviting speakers and guests. <br />Committee did not support the construction of mountain bike structures in the TF. <br />TFC webpage: Jeff L., Nancy D. and Town staff have completed the update — <br />Thank you! <br />Approved minutes to 4/13/21 TFC meeting <br />Next Meeting: scheduled for 6/8/21 at 7:00 pm <br />Page 1 1 <br />
