fCECEIV'=' U
Town of Reading TOWN CLERK
A.
Meeting Minutes 9/;e-
0
X0 2021 Jfiii - AM H: 211
Board - Committee - Commission - Council:
Volunteer Appointment Committee
Date: 2020-06-11 Time: 6:00 PM
Building: Location:
Address: Session:
Purpose: Interviews for BCC Appointments Version: Final
Attendees: Members - Present:
Carlo Bacci, Karen Herrick
Members - Not Present:
Others Present:
Pooja Parsons, Ron Weston, Brian Healy, Jeffrey Lamson, Brian Scouter,
Tedi Asher, William Sullivan, Eleanor Shonkoff, Emmy Dove, Andrew
Friedmann, Nancy Docktor
Minutes Respectfully Submitted By: Jacquelyn LaVerde
Topics of Discussion:
The meeting was held remotely via Zoom.
Pooja Parsons is an associate member of the Council on Aging seeking reappointment. She
has served for five years and also volunteers on the School Council and Scholarship
Foundation. Current efforts for the COA include plans to reopen the Pleasant Street Center,
hiring the new Elder/Human Services Administrator, and conducting an assessment for a
new senior center.
Ron Weston is a current member of the Historical Commission seeking reappointment as an
Associate member. He has served on the Commission for six years, with two years serving
as Chair. He stated that he has been feeling a little burned out and was finding it difficult to
fully participate in meetings due to a long-term hearing issue. His master plan is to back
away from a full role and give younger members a chance to step up and carry on. Current
Associate member, Amelia Freedman, is ready to fill the full member seat.
Brian Healy is a new applicant for the Board of Health. He has lived in Reading for 13 years
and works as a Biostatistician at Mass General Hospital. As these are unprecedented times,
he applied because he hoped there is something he could do to help and translate
information in a useful way. The time commitment is a concern because his wife also works
and he has to watch his three children.
Jeffrey Lamson is a new applicant for the Town Forest Committee. He has lived in Reading
since he was in the third grade. He is interested in joining the Committee because he has
been a user of Town Forest by trail running with his dog and walking with the Boy Scouts.
Brian Scouten is a new applicant for the Town Forest Committee. Having grown up in
Reading, he has spent a lot of time hiking and engaging in other activities in the Town
Forest. He is also active with the Reading Garden Club, Memorial Day and Veterans Day
Page 1 1
