Discussion on request for Access to Council Ring for Trails Committee Walk on <br /> Feb 2nd 2019 for 10 to 15 people. <br /> 2. Discussion on Pilot Thinning program <br /> • TFC will request to be on agenda of Conservation Commission on their <br /> meeting on Feb 13, 2019. <br /> • There are some dangerous trees in Council Ring area. Should we expand <br /> the scope of thinning area to include Council Ring? Decision to stick with <br /> planned thinning area after discussion. <br /> 3. 2020 Massachusetts Town Forest Conference, September 2020 <br /> • Discussion on potential for Reading to host it <br /> • Nancy will email Superintendent Doherty to see if Wood End can be a <br /> venue for conference in addition to Town Forest for improved facilities <br /> • Joint hosting effort Conservation Commission, Trails Committee, Town <br /> Forest Committee <br /> • Expect -100 attendees <br /> • Cost covered by fees from vendors of food and various products. No entry <br /> fee. Need to estimate cost and fees collected <br /> • Significant logistics and cost to consider, potential for state to provide <br /> funds for Pilot Thinning program <br /> • Kurt has not yet been able to meet with Reading Police to discuss Police <br /> detail logistics and cost <br /> • Potential for buckthorn thinning event/ competition in Pilot thinning area <br /> by Boy /Girl scout volunteers as community service <br /> Page 1 1 <br />
