READING SCHOOL COMMITTEE <br /> Reading, Massachusetts <br /> REGULAR SESSION April 23, 2001 <br /> CALL TO ORDER <br /> At 6:53 p.m. Chair Cavicchi called the meeting to order in the RMHS Guidance Office. <br /> School Committee Members Cavicchi, Dahl, Griset, Keigtey, Russo and Twomey were <br /> present. Also present were Superintendent Harmunian and Associate Superintendent <br /> Richards. <br /> Chair Cavicchi congratulated Mr. Dahl on his re-election and Mr. Russo on his election. <br /> TRANSFER OF FUNDS <br /> Dr. Harutunian advised that he is requesting the Committee approve a transfer from the <br /> reserve fund of$65,000 to cover legal fees for the ten-taxpayer lawsuit and a transfer of <br /> $75,000 from the reserve fund to cover building maintenance expenses. <br /> Mr. Russo disclosed that he was a member of the ten-taxpayer lawsuit that he has no <br /> financial interest in the transfer vote, and that his vote will nothe influenced by his role <br /> in that suit. <br /> Mr. Twomey made a motion to transfer$65,000 to cover legal fees and $75,000 to <br /> cover building maintenance costs from the reserve fund. Mr. Keiglev seconded the <br /> motion. The vote was 6-0 Ms. Cavicchi, Mr. Dahl,Mr. Griset, Mr. KeiglevMr. <br /> Russo and Mr. Twomey. <br /> SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT <br /> Dr. Harmunian advised that the School Committee has been requested to appoint a <br /> representative to the Town's Human Relations Advisory Committee. It was the <br /> consensus of the Committee that Robin D'Antona be appointed as the representative to <br /> the Human Relations Advisory Committee. <br /> Dr. Harutunian advised that at the School Committee meeting on May 71h the School <br /> Committee's Excellence in Education Awards would be distributed to students and staff. <br />
