Over 200 people
participated. Only about 5 support vehicles were driven to the Council Ring. No complaints
were received. A sign was placed notifying dog walkers and others that the Turkey Roast
was being held that weekend. The Reading Police Department placed a sign board on Strout
Ave advising residents about the Turkey Roast.
There was a discussion about the possibility of hiring goats to eat invasive species such as
buckthorn. The goats are typically placed inside an electrified fence for about one week.
This has been done elsewhere to control invasives. More research is required to explore
this.
The committee drafted a thank you note to Adam Clark of BSA Troop 702 who contributed
the excess funds that he raised to construct bat boxes in the RTF as part of his Eagle
project. His contribution of approximately $800 will be used to help develop a forest health
plan.
Page 1 1
