Approval of Minutes:
Approval of Minutes from January 23, 2017 proposed. Minor edits proposed and edited.
(Grimes/Collins) Vote: Unanimous.
2. Financial Report:
Several expenses outside the norm were incurred. Four marketing messages have been
installed in various locations throughout library. They are acrylic posters which can be
reused. Self -check RFID pads were upgraded to less sensitive readers. The original pads
were reading nearby books. Five pads were returned at $300-400 each and the price
difference was paid. Piano lock will be installed this week and the outside shades on the
remaining lamp posts on the library perimeter will be completed within the next couple of
weeks. The Deering Street fence was damaged during recent snow removal, Facilities is
handling repair. An issue to be addressed is the clearing of sidewalks on both Deering and
School Streets. Patrons and staff who park on those streets have no safe means of walking.
The 4 external emergency doors are to be alarmed at $300/each plus installation.
David Hutchinson questioned the 7 month budgeted salary decrease of $22,000. This is due
to the Assistant Director position being budgeted but not spent.
3. Director's Report:
A new circulation page, Kellie Travis, has been hired at $10.03/hr. The other two high
school age pages have received a percentage increase to bring their rate to over $10/hr. A
new circulation associate will be hired as a "casual employee" for 12hrs/week replacing
Maureen Conwell. The Assistant Director Position has been filled by Ashley Waring; a solid
choice over two qualified candidates. This is effective immediately upon her acceptance. As
a result, a requisition has been submitted for a Children's Librarian.
Page 1 1
