Call to Order <br />Reading Public Schools <br />Reading, Massachusetts <br />Regular Meeting of the School Committee <br />Executive Session <br />Staff Members Present <br />John Doherty, Superintendent <br />Mary DeLai, Assistant Superintendent <br />Gary Brackett, Town Counsel <br />6:34 p.m. <br />Chairperson Janowski called the Executive Session to order. <br />Litigation Update <br />RECEIVED <br />TOWN CLERK <br />READING, MASS. <br />tall FEB 23 P t= 381 <br />Mr. Bracket updated the School Committee on the status of the Building Project lawsuit. He <br />shared that the TLT vs. Harleysville portion of the lawsuit has been settled and should be <br />finalized in approximately 35 days. With this pending agreement, Harleysville has assigned its <br />rights against Reading to TLT. <br />Town Counsel has been in contact with the attorney for TLT to discuss a monetary settlement. <br />The parties continue to discuss the settlement. Mr. Brackett has no recommendations for a <br />direction or settlement at this time. <br />The main case is scheduled for trial in October 2013. <br />Real Property <br />Mr. Brackett reviewed the process for purchasing of property. This action would fall under a <br />Unique Property Acquisitions and the School Department would not have to go out for bid. <br />He went on to discuss the timeline. Discussion on the cost would take place and then the <br />property would be appraised by the Town Assessor or other appraiser. The School Department <br />would have to get Town meeting approval based on an agreed upon price with contingencies that <br />Town Meeting would have to approve. <br />The Committee asked clarifying questions. <br />
