Minutes of Executive Session
Board of Selectmen Meeting
March 16, 1993
The Executive Session convened at 11:08 P.M. in the Lounge at the
Senior Center, 49 Pleasant Street, Reading, MA. Present were
Chairman Dan Ensminger, Vice Chairman George Hines, Secretary
Sally Hoyt, Selectmen Eugene Nigro and Bill Burditt, Town Manager
Peter I. Hechenbliekner.
On motion by Nigro seconded by Burditt the Board voted to approve
the Executive Session Minutes of February 16, 1993 by a vote of
4-0-1 with Hines abstaining.
The Town Manager discussed the Homart sale. Homart is looking
for an answer on whether or not to go ahead with the retail. The
Board discussed the merits of retail use versus other use for the
site. On motion by Burditt seconded by Nigro the Board voted not
to extend the purchase sale agreement with Homart based on their
recent revelation that the only purpose appropriate for the site
is retail use and this is not the use that the Planned Unit
Development passed by Town Meeting anticipated for the site. The
motion was approved by a vote of 4-1-0 with Hoyt opposed. She
indicated that she is concerned about the cost of capping the
landfill.
On motion by Nigro seconded by Burditt the Board voted to adjourn
the Executive Session at 11:22 p.m. All five members present
voted in the affirmative and the meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
44-
X.
Secreta
i
