Board of Selectmen Meeting
Executive Session
March 26, 1997
The meeting was convened at 10:14 p.m. Present were Chairman George Hines, Vice Chairman
Camille Anthony, Secretary Bruce MacDonald, Selectmen Dan Ensminger and Sally Hoyt, Town
Manager Peter Hechenbleikner.
Police Station Siting
The Board discussed the need to understand what the Board of Realtors situation would be if the
Selectmen's plan was not approved for siting of the Police Station - i.e., would they still be
interested or willing to sell. The current Articles on the Town Meeting Warrant do not provide
for the acquisition of that site, and the Town Manager is asked to draw up Articles for the Board
to have available to acquire the Union Street parcel, to transfer the care, custody and control of
the parking lot to the Board of Selectmen for a Police Station. Is the Oakland Road Article
adequate to transfer the property, and rezoning the current Police Station to the same zoning as
the adjacent business zoning. The Town Manager is also asked to look at cost of renovation
versus new construction and other situations to determine whether in fact the Town would be
better off acquiring the Union Street lot or staying with its current proposal.
- On motion by MacDonald seconded by Ensminger, the Board voted to adjourn at 10:58 p.m. on a
roll call vote with all present voting in the affirmative.
Respectfully submitteJ.
Secretary
