<br />Council on Aging Board Meeting <br />Monday, January 12, 2009 <br />Reading Senior Center Game Room <br /> <br />Present <br />: Stacey Bertocchi, Sally Hoyt, Steve Oston, Carol Patterson, Carole <br />Scrima, Barbara Powers, Marguerite Bosnian, Margaret Havey, George <br />Lonergan, Carol Oniskey, Gina Nelson (Associate), Dawn Folopoulos <br />(Staff) <br /> <br />Call to Order: <br />6:34 PM <br /> <br />Staff reviewed etiquette protocols governing town committee meetings. <br /> <br />Minutes: <br />approved and accepted for December 8, 2008. <br /> <br /> <br /> The minutes will be augmented by adding some details regarding the <br />Coordinator of Volunteers position replacement. <br /> <br />Administrator’s Report: <br />approved and accepted. <br /> <br /> <br /> Staff expanded on the meeting with the Reading Clergy Association. <br /> <br /> The greeting card donation from Atlantic was talked about, in <br />particular the option of charging or receiving donations from seniors. <br /> <br /> Having a breakfast at the Senior Center was also discussed. <br /> <br />Financial Report: <br />approved and accepted. <br /> <br />Old Business: <br /> <br /> Steve described the results obtained to date on the Discount Handbook <br />telephone survey of local retailers. Only about 20% of the businesses <br />called offered discounts. A subcommittee meeting will be called to <br />plan the next step. <br /> <br /> COA members that participated in the Christmas hot meals delivery to <br />seniors summarized their experience. <br /> <br /> No decision has been reached on replacing the retiring Coordinator of <br />Volunteers. Staff and the board are concerned about the financial <br />prognosis for the Town and implications for cuts in services. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
