MASS. <br />CBoard - Committee - commission - council: <br />Zoning Board of Appeals 2016 MAR 14 P 2.021 <br />Date: 2016 -01 -07 Time: 7:00 PM <br />Building: Reading Town Hall Location: Selectmen Meeting Room <br />Address: 16 Lowell Street <br />Purpose: General Business Session: General Session <br />Attendees: Members - Present: <br />Robert Redfern, Damase Caouette, John Jarema, David Traniello, Erik <br />Hagstrom <br />Members - Not Present: <br />Kathleen Hackett <br />Others Present: <br />Minutes Respectfully Submitted By: Kim Saunders <br />Topics of Discussion: <br />® Case # 16 -01 <br />The Zoning Board of Appeals held a public hearing on the petition of Anthony Caturello who <br />seeks a Variance and a Special Permit from Sections 6.3 & 7.3.2 of the zoning bylaws in order to <br />request a Special Permit to expand the front porch 6.6' x 11.6' with platform and stairs and to <br />expand the rear for a two story addition; and to request a Variance to add a single -story detached <br />two -car garage 24' x 25' at the rear on the property located at 57 Federal Street in Reading, <br />Massachusetts. The lot coverage will be 28% rather than the required 25 %. <br />Ms. Twomey introduced herself as the architect of the project for the petitioner Mr. Caturello. <br />She described the project and why a Variance and Special Permit is being requested. She stated <br />the Variance criteria for the project. <br />Mr. Redfern read comments on the petition that were submitted by Mr. Redmond who is the <br />Town Zoning Officer. <br />Mr. Traniello reviewed the parts of the project that fall under the Special Permit and the <br />Variance requests. Mr. Traniello stated his concerns with the criteria presented. <br />After Mr. Jarema and Mr. Caouette described how they interpreted the project, Ms. Twomey <br />clarified where Mr. Caturello will be entering his home. <br />QMr. Redfern explained why Mr. Redmond would consider the platform a structure. <br />Mr. Hagstrom said he had no objection to the Special Permit, but the criteria for the Variance <br />warrants discussion. <br />Page 1 1 <br />
