MASS. <br />Board - Committee - Commission - Council: <br />Board of Health 2016 FEB 22 P 3 21' I <br />Date: 2014 -11 -03 Time: 6:00 PM <br />Building: Reading Town Hall Location: Berger Room <br />Address: 16 Lowell Street <br />Purpose: General Business <br />Attendees: Members - Present: <br />Andrew Friedmann, Barbara Meade, David Singer <br />Members - Not Present: <br />Others Present: <br />Staff Ruth Clay, Facilitator Peg Sallade <br />Minutes Respectfully Submitted By: Ruth Clay <br />Topics of Discussion: <br />Board of Health meeting came to order at 6:05 pm on November 3, 2014 in the Berger <br />Room of Reading Town Hall. <br />Strategic Plan Discussion <br />Peg Sallade lead a discussion concerning a Five Year Improvement Plan listing the seven <br />Essential Public Health Services identified from the previous process. People responsible for <br />each of the Improvement Strategies were identified. The seven services were then <br />prioritized to three: ES #3 Inform, educate, and empower people about health issues; ES <br />#4 Mobilize community partnerships; and ES #7 Link people to needed personal health <br />services. Sallade will draft a written report to be reviewed at the November 17th meeting. <br />Clay will discuss with Jean Delios, Bob LeLacheur and John Halsey the process once the <br />report is completed. Friedmann expressed that the Board should present a powerpoint <br />presentation to the Board of Selectmen. <br />Acceptance of Minutes <br />Minutes of October 8, 2014 were passed unanimously with two changes in the first <br />paragraph under "Strategic Plan Discussion ". <br />Mystic Valley Tobacco Annual Update <br />The Board expressed their appreciation for the letter from Maureen Buzby with updates <br />about the regulation changes in the various communities within the tobacco coalition. <br />Open session for topics not reasonably anticipated 48 hours in advance of the meeting: <br />Clay provided a copy of a letter sent to the Saugus Board of Health endorsing their efforts <br />to raise the minimum age for the sale of tobacco and nicotine products to 21. Their hearing <br />and vote was at the same time as this meeting. Friedmann requested the year be included <br />in the first paragraph and the PhD be added after his name when the letter is sent to <br />additional communities. <br />Page I 1 <br />
