Town of Reeding - Meeting Mlnuten
Ron suggested that It would be a good idea to include residences in reducing peak
loads although they are not the main users of electricity. Residents should be aware of the
critical electrical needs and act on them. In this way, all of us understand the real need to
conserve energy and share the pain.
Resident Guide to Emergencles:
The guide, provided by Fire Chief Burns, was reduced to 6 pages by re-
formatting the information by Michele. Ron plans to write a brief quiz based on the
Resident Guide for visitors at F&F Day with prizes for the correct answers in the form
of Hershey Kisses. The committee also has Michele's granola bars left over from
Earth Day to offer as prizes.
Laurie Ann suggested that we have some kind of drawing with the winner
receiving an emergency kit provided with the help of Home Depot. Some of the Items
which Home Depot could provide would include respirator masks, first aid kits, duct
tape, and basic tools. Ron will check out Home Depot to solicit their help. Mike said
that he would include a mirror for the kit. He felt that this was a crucial item for
communications.
Michele will make a composite list of emergency items from the different
government agencies. She will Include the emergency generator operation cautions
that the chief suggested.
Two kits are suggested: one for the home and one to go In the event of an
evacuation order.
Emergency kit for kids game: youngsters will choose which items should be
included in an emergency kit, e.g. apples or apple sauce, water or coke, electronic
game versus a coloring book, reading book, monopoly game, and a deck of cards.
Other choices could Include Flip Flops versus a sturdy pair of shoes, and an electric
can opener versus a hand operated can opener.
Tent for our site at F &F Day: Mike will allow us to use his tent. He will give it
to Ron prior to the event.
Next meeting: Committee members should bring In any items that they wish added to our
emergency kit. Ron : cards, crank radio, and crank flash light; Michele crank charger, Mike
crank flash light.
Library Plans: Joan will ask Ruth Urell for the library addition and design plans for us to
review.
Page 12
