READING PUBLIC SCHOOLS <br />Reading, Massachusetts <br />SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING <br />MINUTES <br />Call to Order <br />205 <br />JUNE 16, 1987 <br />Chairman Cliff Allen called the regular meeting of the Reading <br />School Committee to order at 7:45 p.m. on June 16, 1987 in the <br />Superintendent's Conference Room at 34 Gould Street. All members <br />of the School Committee were present, with the exception of Mr. <br />Nissen and Mrs. Philbrick, both of whom arrived later in the <br />meeting. Also present were the Superintendent, Robert S. Wells, <br />Assistant Superintendent, Robert J. Munnelly, Dr. Jack Delaney, <br />Principal of Parker Middle School, Chairperson of the Math <br />Department, Mary Abegg, and member of the Math Department, Jack <br />Kelliher, parents, and a reporter from the Ch'ronicl,e. <br />Mr. Allen stated the matter listed on the Agenda as "Principal's <br />Appointment" would be taken up later in the Agenda, after "Foreign <br />Language Curriculum Report" in order that the School Committee <br />members who would be arriving late would have a chance to <br />participate in the discussion regarding this item. <br />Approval of Minutes of June 1, 8, 10, 1987 <br />Mr. Coco made a motion, seconded by Carol Lyons, to approve the <br />Minutes of the Meetings of June 1, 8, 10, 1987. <br />Mr. Allen then asked if there were any omissions or corrections. <br />Carol Lyons stated that she would like a correction made on Page <br />3, of the Minutes of June 10th, where it quoted her as saying, <br />"Ms. Lyons stated she thought that if there were any negative <br />opinions expressed by any people interviewed in regard to the <br />candidates, it should be discussed in Open Session." Ms. Lyons <br />requested that the words "the professional competency" be inserted <br />after the words "in regard to ", to clarify what was said. <br />A vote was taken on the Minutes, and with the amendment to the <br />June 10th Minutes, they were unanimously approved, 4 -0. <br />Bills and Payrolls <br />Warrants for bills and payrolls were approved as follows: <br />Bills <br />June 22, 1987 - General Expense S28,045.24 <br />Payrolls <br />June 19, 1987 - Weekly - $ 39,859.02 <br />June 26, 1987 - Weekly - S 53,286.99 <br />June 22, 1987 - Teachers - $1,207,975.80 <br />
