READING PUBLIC SCHOOLS <br />PUBLIC HEARING <br />Reading, Massachusetts <br />PUBLIC HEARING MINUTES <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />FEBRUARY 8, 1988 <br />Chairman George Shannon called the regular meeting of the Reading <br />School Committee's Public Hearing on the 1989 Budget to order at <br />7:30 p.m. on February 8, 1988 in the library of the J. W. Killam <br />School. All members were present with the exception of Cliff <br />Allen. Also present were Superintendent Robert J. Munnelly; <br />Assistant Superintendents Lynn M. Bak and Ronald A. Winslow; <br />teachers; Town members;and a reporter from the Chronicle. <br />PRESENTATION AND OVERVIEW OF BUDGET <br />Dr. Munnelly presented the audience with the FY 1989 School <br />Budget. The presentation included an explanation of the function <br />percentages and the salary /expenses percentages of expenditures <br />of the school budget. Dr. Munnelly provided justification for <br />the 4.1% increases being sought, and highlighted the educational <br />needs and priorities of Reading's educational programs. <br />Questions and discussions followed. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />At 8:37 p.m., there being no further business, Mr. Coco moved to <br />adjourn, seconded by Mr. Nissen. The vote was unanimous. <br />
