READING SCHOOL COMMITTEE <br />Reading, Massachusetts <br />SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING <br />PECIAL SESSION MINUTES <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />JANUARY 28, 1989 <br />The meeting was held in the Conference Room at the Reading Public <br />Library. <br />Chairman George Shannon called the Strategic Planning Session to <br />order at 8:30 a.m. Present were all members of the School <br />Committee, Superintendent of Schools Munnelly, Assistant Super- <br />intendents Bak and Winslow, and members of the Administrative <br />Council. The meeting was open to the public, and there was one <br />member of the public present at the call to order. <br />The purpose of the strategic planning session was outlined by <br />Superintendent Munnelly, and he proceeded to introduce Peter Boyer <br />and Richard Bennett who would serve as facilitators for the <br />session. <br />Discussions focussed on "what constitutes a good school system." <br />Participants suggested "ingredients" and proceeded to choose <br />priority statements from the large number of ideas suggested. <br />Criteria for assigning priorities was also discussed and rated. A <br />listing of the results of the rating exercises is included as an <br />appendix to these minutes. <br />The session was adjourned at 1:10 p.m. on a MOTION by Mrs. <br />Philbrick, SECONDED by Mr. Nissen. <br />
