REGULAR SESSION MINUTES 2 JANUARY 23, 1989 <br />Mr. Coco moved to eliminate carpeting requests from the FY90 <br />budget The motion was seconded by Carol Lyons. Lengthy dis- <br />cussion followed. The vote was 2 in favor, 3 opposed, and 1 <br />abstention. The motion failed <br />Stan Nissen suggested to examine: <br />1. what catagories are included in the budget <br />2. on an annual basis, have the School Committee target a <br />percentage figure for increase purposes prior to <br />the Superintendent going to the staff. <br />This will be placed on a Spring meeting agenda. <br />INFORMATION AND PROPOSALS <br />Mr. Winslow provided members with a financial statement of account <br />and expense balances and reviewed with the Committee a list of <br />grants the Reading Public Schools receive. <br />PERSONNEL ISSUES <br />On the recommendation of the Adminstration, <br />Carol Lyons moved to appoint Susan Lancella as a replacement <br />substitute in the Math Department at Coolidge Middle School <br />effective February 1, 1989 for the remainder of the school year. <br />The motion was seconded by Margaret Cowell. The vote was <br />unanimous. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />At 11.30 p.m., Richard Coco made a motion to adjourn to Executive <br />Session The motion was seconded by Margaret Cowell. All of the <br />following members voted in the affirmative: <br />Stan Nissen George Shannon <br />Barbara Philbrick Richard Coco <br />Margaret Cowell Carol Lyons <br />
