READING PUBLIC SCHOOLS <br />Reading, Massachusetts <br />SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING <br />SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES APRIL 21, 1992 <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Chair Barbara Philbrick called the special meeting of the Reading <br />School Committee to order at 8:20 a.m. in the Superintendent's <br />Conference Room. All members were present with the exception of <br />George Shannon. Also present was Superintendent Dr. Robert J. <br />Munnelly. <br />MINUTES <br />Timothy Twomey moved to approve the minutes of April 6, 1992 <br />Matthew Cummings seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous. <br />BILLS AND PAYROLLS <br />The warrant for Bills was as follows: <br />April 13, 1992 Bills $52,035.70 <br />The warrant for Payrolls was as follows: <br />April 10, 1992 Biweekly $108,919.63 <br />, CITIZEN INPUT <br />There was no Citizens' Input. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />RATIFY CONTRACT ARRANGED IN NEGOTIATIONS BETWEEN READING SCHOOL <br />COMMITTEE AND READING TEACHERS ASSOCIATION <br />Timothy Twomey moved to ratify the agreement made in bargaining <br />with the Reading Teachers Association to cover the period of <br />September 1, 1991 and expiring August 31, 1992, and that the Chair <br />is authorized to sign the agreement on behalf of the school <br />committee. Roberta D'Antona seconded the motion. Discussion <br />followed concerning the RTA's agreement to the reduction of the <br />calendar year, and the conditions of the buy back contractual <br />agreement issues. Matthew Cummings formally opposed the condi- <br />tions of the sick leave buy back, other language changes and the <br />reduction of two days in this years calendar. The vote was 4 in <br />favor and 1 opposed. <br />CALENDAR <br />Timothy Twomey moved a conditional approval upon teachers accep- <br />tance of the ratified contract agreement between the Reading <br />School Committee and the Reading Teachers Association for June 19, <br />1992 to mark the close of schools for both students and teachers. <br />Roberta D'Antona seconded the motion. The vote was 4 in favor and <br />1 opposed. <br />
