REGULAR SESSION MINUTES 2 JUNE 18, 1996 <br />May 17, 1996 - Biweekly - $140,762.32 <br />MINUTES <br />Mr. Stohlman asked to defer the approval of the April 30, 1996 minutes so he could edit them <br />more thoroughly. Ms. D'Antona asked Mr. Stohlman if he could reconstruct the chart he <br />presented at that meeting. <br />Mr. Spadafora requested that his comments about maintenance be reflected on page 4 before his <br />motion. <br />Chair Cummings pointed out that air quality testing was not reported in the minutes and also the <br />building maintenance schedule at Parker. <br />Mr. Spadafora asked that his remarks under Home Economics be included in the minutes, <br />specifically to the Administration that Health Education, Decisions, and Family Issues be moved <br />from freshmen level to middle school level in lieu of home economics and that his remarks about <br />maintenance be added before his motion. <br />Ms. D'Antona asked if Dr. Harutunian had provided an updated contingency for the Collins Field's <br />running balance. <br />School Committee directed Dr. Harutunian to adhere to the maintenance schedule as outlined by <br />the Maryland Report and Dr. Smuts directions. <br />Ms. Cavicchi moved to defer approval of the April 30, 1996 minutes. Mr. Stohlman seconded the <br />motion. The vote was unanimous, 6 -0. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />LETTER FROM CONCERNED PARENTS (OUT OF ORDER) <br />Dr. Harutunian began discussion on the June 10, 1996 letter from concerned parents to the <br />School Committee members and himself. He noted that there are approximately one hundred and <br />four questions that these parents requested to have answered by June 20, 1996. This would <br />require help from a variety of sources. David Finney, of Design Partnership of Cambridge, <br />provided an estimate of what it would cost to provide the School Department with this additional <br />information. The Superintendent noted that there response for 30 to 50 hours of principal's time <br />at a billing rate of $125.00 per hour would translate into a cost of between $3,750 and $6,250. <br />Since he is only authorized up to $5,000 on non - discretionary spending on this project he was <br />asking the School Committee for their authorization to move forward .
